Housing Staff Descriptions
Every housing area is staffed with a variety of Housing and Residence Life student and professional employees. The name of each staff member, along with his or her contact information, is posted in the lobby of each living area. The Resident Assistants (RAs) will be introducing themselves at check-in and as they visit the residents in their rooms during the move-in process. Each living area has a graduate assistant and professional staff member working alongside the students. Also, each living area has a staff member available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What is a Resident Assistant (RA)?
Resident Assistants are upperclass, undergraduate students that live in all living areas on campus. They contribute to a positive community living experience by serving as a campus resource for first- year students, and through coordinating social and academic activities for residents.
What is a Graduate Assistant?
Graduate Assistants, or Assistant Living Center Directors (ALCD), help the professional staff members manage each of the apartments or living centers on campus. They are currently working on their master's degrees. ALCD staff members are also trained in crisis management, facilities, campus judicial processes, and student development.
What is an Administrative Professional Staff Member?
The professional staff also works with the students living on-campus. They are full-time administrators who are responsible for fostering the development of the students in their area. Staff members are listed in our directory as Living Center Directors (LCD).
