What is a PSM?

The Professional Science Master's (PSM) is an innovative graduate degree designed to allow students to pursue advanced training in science or mathematics, while simultaneously developing workplace skills highly valued by employers.

What makes a PSM unique?

A professional science master's program is different from a traditional science master's program in that a professional science master's degree program:

  • is interdisciplinary, pulling from multiple fields of study
  • is directly tied to the scientific workforce needs of business and industry
  • has an intensive scientific business/industry internship component
  • has strong business, communication, project management, teamwork, and ethics components
  • provides students with the scientific knowledge and professional skills needed in today's scientific workplace
