Parking Update

Grand Valley State University is proud to host a number of events on the Allendale campus March 22-24, 2017 including the Robotics Competition, High School Track and Field, and the first annual Datafest competition. Ensuring ample parking for our faculty/staff and student commuters is our number one priority, and we assure you that there will be parking available. However, parking may not be as convenient as other days.

It is our suggestion you utilize the Rapid routes to commute to campus if possible, or allow extra time for your commute as Lot H may be the closet option. Just a reminder the Walker Fire Station and Standale Meijer have carpool areas with convenient Route 50 pickup every 4-7 minutes.

Grand Valley is a permit only campus. If you are coming to either of our campuses (Allendale or Pew Campus) during business hours, you will need a permit. Please check The Parking 411 for additional information and times, unless you choose to pay and park at meters or pay stations. Permits are available to guests of students at no cost at the following locations: Allendale Campus - Public Safety (Service Building -just south of the Alumni House) and Pew Campus - Pew Security (102 Eberhard Center). Starting in the Fall of the 2016-2017 academic year, temporary permits for students will cost $6.00 per day.

Faculty/Staff lots, designated spaces, meters and pay stations are enforced year round.

Feel free to contact us for your questions and parking permit needs at 616-331-PARK(7275).

Helpful Winter Parking Reminders

When parking in snow covered lots, look for the orange traffic cones that mark each row of parking – The center cone marks the center line. Before you get out of your vehicle, make sure there are only about 2 feet between vehicles, your bumper is in line with the vehicle next to you, and there is only one car either in front or behind you. We don’t want anyone’s vehicle trapped in the middle!

Give yourself more time to park in snowy conditions. Snow covered lots cause vehicles to park farther apart causing less parking per lot. Rather than stalking Lots C and G, count on Lots B and H for available parking!

If you purchased a temporary permit, make sure it is displayed on the driver’s side dash with the date fully visible. Failure to do so could result in a citation. Parking Enforcement Staff will only check the designated area for a permit on ice and snow covered windshields.
