Blackboard NG doesn't work well with IE6. IE 8 is the best option, which you can get here. However, OnBase is not compatible with IE8. Faculty: Banner Issue Faculty: Banner Issue Faculty: If you do not see your courses in Banner, please request that your department coordinator update Banner. You must be listed as the instructor of record in Banner to be assigned your courses in Blackboard. If your course is in Banner, but not Blackboard, contact bbadmin@gvsu.edu. Students: Course Availability Students: Course Availability Students: If you do not see your courses in Blackboard the faculty have not yet made them available to you. Making Courses Available to Students Making Courses Available to Students You must use Firefox to make courses available. Go to Customization>Properties and Set Availability, click "Yes" then "Submit." Home Page Error Home Page Error Faculty may delete the non-working Home Page and create a new Home Page. 1) Click the Plus sign in the upper left corner of the navigation bar and select "Create Module Page". 2) Name the page Home Page. 3) Click Home Page, with the edit mode set to ON, click Add Course Module and select the desired items.. Discussion Board Discussion Board Discussion Board forums are being sorted by alphabetical order and will not re-order. A possible work-around is to put a number...01, 02,..etc. at the beginning of the forum title. Notification Dashboard Notification Dashboard Notification Dashboard "To Do" module does not work with dates set in the old system. Faculty will need to remove the dates hit submit and then reset the dates. This can be done from within the Grade Center. Average Column Average Column Average Column under "Create Calculated Column" Grade Center not working when faculty request to displaying points. It does display percentage correctly. Course Copy Course Copy Course Copy does not work in Internet Explorer. In Firefox you may need to repeat the copy process twice (quickly) to get the content to copy. Extra Credit Extra Credit How extra credit is handled in BBng is different. Please see handout. Courses from Winter may not have the same totals. All winter courses are turned off to students. Self/Peer Assessment Self/Peer Assessment In the Self & Peer Assessment tool, written feedback does not display to the student. An error message occurs when the student clicks on the score of their assessment to view their feedback. Feedback should display from the student's My Grades area instead a http://500 error displays. The instructor can not view feedback either (only the score). Until this is corrected, we are not encouraging faculty to use this tool. Start/End Date Start/End Date If an Assignment, Test, Survey or Announcement is setup with a Start Date and no End Date, the item will lose it's ability to be modified (at all). For now, it is important to set an end date even if it is after the end of the semester. Groups Groups When creating groups, the discussion board does not automatically allow members to attach items to threads. Group members can create threads, but they can't attach items to their threads unless the instructor goes back and edits each group forum to allow for file attachments. The file attachment option is allowed but it is NOT a default setting in the group discussion boards Show/Hide Course Menu Show/Hide Course Menu Sometimes the Course Menu is not visible when you login to Blackboard. To solve the issue click on the expand buttonlocated on the left side of the screen to make it visible. Print Page Print Page When printing multiple pages, such as the results of Survey, Firefox will only print the first page, unless Each Frame Separately is selected in the print options. Uploading Grades Uploading Grades When uploading Grades to Blackboard from a spreadsheet .txt file faculty will need to use Internet Explorer version 7 or Early versions of Firefox. Blackboard will not upload grades from version 3.5. SafeAssign: Viewing Results SafeAssign: Viewing Results Students are able to view their SafeAssign reports only through the link in which they submit. They do not have access to it from their grades link. If the assignment availability has expired so that the view/submit link disappears, students cannot view their originality report. Submitting Documents to SafeAssign in Firefox Submitting Documents to SafeAssign in Firefox If students are not able to upload to SafeAssign, click Tools>Options>Privacy>Exceptions Then, type blackboard.com and Click Allow. "Not Implemented" Error Message "Not Implemented" Error Message If you are enrolled in more than 10 groups within your course, you will receive the error message each time you click to a new page within Blackboard. To avoid or get rid of this error, you must enroll yourself in less than 10 groups. Font Formatting/Color Font Formatting/Color With the exception of the Announcment area, all headers will be displayed as black. All bodies of text should be formatted using the Visual Editor. Copying text from a word processor can result in formatting irregularities. It is recommended to first copy the text into a text editor such as Notepad or TextEdit, then paste into and format with the Visual Editor. Visual Editor Visibility Issue Visual Editor Visibility Issue When taking a quiz that contains essay questions, Firefox may display a portion of the Visual Editor text box on top of a quiz questions.
